No Wind for New Jersey?🌬

A Philadelphia man was denied entrance into a Phillies game this past week due to his need to bring his pet alligator into the stadium. The “emotional support animal” was adopted 8 years ago and hurt nobody since. With that record, I say let him in.

WIND FARMS: CLIMATE SAVER OR BEACH DESTROYER

One of the most heated political debates over the past year has been the development of wind turbines off the coast of the Jersey shore.

Once popular among most New Jerseyans, things have taken a turn for the worse.

Support for building wind turbines off the coast of New Jersey has significantly decreased over the past four years, particularly in coastal areas, according to a Stockton University Poll.

The Numbers

The poll reveals that 50% of state residents are in favor of offshore wind farms, while 33% oppose them, with 16% undecided. This marks a substantial drop of 30 percentage points from a similar poll conducted in September 2019 when 80% of New Jersey residents supported offshore wind farms.

Notably, residents living in areas along the ocean or bay have become less supportive of offshore wind turbines, with only 33% in favor in the recent poll, compared to 77% four years ago.

The primary reasons for opposition to offshore turbines include concerns about potential harm to sea life and obstructed ocean views.

The U.S. Interior Department approved the Ocean Wind 1 project, which involves the construction of 98 wind turbines off the New Jersey coast, in July.

Whats changed?

Despite the declining support for offshore wind farms, 72% of respondents expressed concern about climate change, and 51% believe it is very important for the state to combat it.

This shows that the citizens do not deny climate change, but worry about the effectiveness and overall value added by these wind turbines.

Partisan differences were evident in the poll, with Democrats largely supporting wind energy, while Republicans were more likely to oppose it.

Respondents were split on whether the authority to approve wind farms should lie with the state government or municipalities where offshore construction would take place.

NEW JERSEYS SICKEST CRIMINAL SINCE JOHN LIST🚔

New Jerseys coolest criminal was detained this week after crashing his car into a police station.

John Hargreaves, intentionally drove his SUV into both a residence and the offices of a municipal police department on September 20, according to authorities.

The scenes

Fortunately, no one was injured in either incident. Hargreaves first drove into the garage door of a home in Liberty Township, in an attempt to harass a homeowner, with whom he had a known association.

Shortly after, he drove his vehicle into the Independence Township police headquarters, causing significant damage, and then surrendered to officers. While in custody, he played the Guns N' Roses song "Welcome to the Jungle" loudly on his car stereo and appeared to be celebrating.

Hargreaves faces multiple charges, including burglary, criminal mischief, and weapons offenses for both crashes. Additionally, he is charged with terrorism, aggravated assault, and causing widespread injury or damage related to the police station crash.

The authorities have not disclosed a motive for these actions, and Hargreaves remained in custody at the time of the report. It is unclear whether he has legal representation.
