THE NEW LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
After the sudden passing of Sheila Oliver on August 1st, the New Jersey Government has been on the search for a worthy candidate to replace the lieutenant governor.
After a month long search, one woman was found to be a perfect replacement to Oliver, and has already taken over the position
Tahesha Way
Way was sworn into her new role in a ceremony at the New Jersey Executive State House on Friday, September 8th.
Way's background includes:
serving as an Administrative Law Judge for the State of New Jersey,
Being elected to the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders,
Serving as a Council Member for the New Jersey Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council
Serving as the Secretary of State since 2018.
She is a graduate of Brown University and holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Governor Murphy praised Way's contributions to the state, particularly her work in growing New Jersey's tourism economy, supporting small businesses, and strengthening the election system during her tenure as Secretary of State.
Way, who has over two decades of public service experience, will also continue to serve as Secretary of State while holding the position of Lieutenant Governor.
She is the first Black person and the first Secretary of State from New Jersey to lead the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) as President.
Whats next for Jersey?
With big shoes to fill, Way has a few goals in mind to make sure that she does:
"I will dedicate every day to fight for the forgotten families of our state. I will do everything to ensure no parent will have to suffer the indignity of choosing between putting food on the table or keeping a roof over their child's head,"
With all eyes on Way, we will continue to hope that she can make a memorable and positive impact on our state for many years to come.

NO MIGRANTS IN MURPHY'S JERSEY
For over a year, Texas governor Greg Abbott has been sending migrants from the Mexican border to north east cities such as Washington D.C, Chicago and New York City in response to the lack of funding and support at the Texas border.
Now, New York city is being over run, and Mayor Eric claims their migrant crisis will “Destroy New York City”
In response, the federal government and NYC have agreed to look into Atlantic city airport as a possible sanctuary for migrants.
Not a chance.
Murphy stated that the state is not capable of dealing with an influx of migrants at any location, now or in the future.
his stance marks a reversal of Murphy's 2017 campaign promise to make New Jersey a sanctuary state for migrants.
While some have criticized Murphy for the shift, his decision appears to be driven by pragmatic political considerations, as he aims to avoid controversy and protect Democratic legislative election victories, while refusing to virtue signal to humanitarian groups who oppose his decision.
It may be too early to ensure that migrants will not be housed in New Jersey, seeing Murphy play tough and face the hypocrisy accusations head on may work out both democrats and republicans on this bipartisan decision.
In honor of the 22nd anniversary of 9/11, here are some memorials you can visit throughout the state to pay your respects. 🇺🇸

Have yourself a week, New Jersey!
Make every second count this week and make sure you’re moving in the right direction. Your growth may feel slow, but slow, is better than no growth at all.
