Jenks' Abusing its Power

Hunter Biden, son of Joe Biden, has been indicted on gun charges by the Department of Justice. Biden was looking for a plea deal, but now appears will have a trial right in the heart of his fathers reelection campaign. Opposition is upset because its a criminal charge that does not implicate his father.

JENKINSONS: NO PROBLEM SHUTTING IT DOWN

I can still remember my first night visiting Jenks.

An hour long wait to get in, the drink line somehow managed to be longer.

I spent most of my time outside fighting for a breath of fresh air, and somehow still left with a desire to visit again.

Now, Jenkinson’s has found a way to take advantage of the trust and love that many of us have given them over the years, and completely shut down the beach to any and everybody.

Shut down for the season

Many are wondering not only why the beach is shut down, but how an entire beach can be shut down.

Simple answer, Jenks owns the entire boardwalk.

The real owners, the Storino family, bought the boardwalk from the Jenkinson’s in 1976 and have not looked back since.

Now, the family legally has the right to shut down the beach if need be, and they determined it time to with strong currents and a possible hurricane coming to town.

The locals are not happy

The local businesses down the shore are extremely reliant on tourists coming in and spending their money in their town.

With this out of the picture, these local businesses are missing out on important end of the season revenue, as visitors are still coming in droves.

Either way, Jenks is still strong arming the situation, with no apparent change of heart ahead.

So next time you visit, remember they’re not just a crowded bar, but a boardwalk monopoly as well.

THE NEW JERSEY TAKE ON THE WALL

Businesses are always looking for ways to get ahead against their competition, sometimes, by breaking the law.

To counter this, New Jersey has helped develop a real life wall of shame to expose these companies to the world.

The only problem?

Spreading the word of the law

Thankfully for us, that is what your local bagel does best.

Developed by the The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL), The Wall highlights the major NJ players partaking in tax avoidance, unpaid wages and more.

These companies have been listed on The WALL (Workplace Accountability in Labor List) after the NJDOL had previously warned these businesses to pay their fines and fees (to no success).

In honor of the VMA’s happening in Newark this week, and a new list of companies to judge, lets do our own award show.

  • 🥇 Biggest fine: $760,938.64 by the company Ajulia Executive Payroll LLC that is based in North Brunswick.

  • 🥇 Worst industry: Construction with 13 out of the 36 companies being involved in the development, restoration, or demolition sectors.

  • 🥇 Longest lasting: Retail Design Solutions, LLC, IOU USA, and All American Demolition & Dismantling, LLC have all had had outstanding payments since 2018.

Is the WALL for good?

Updated every month, the Wall is meant to help the companies who do follow the law, as those who do not will have a clear and obvious advantage.

Im always here for helping local business, but shaming those who cheat just makes it all the more enjoyable.

  • Summer is officially dying down, so you better make the most of the warm weather while its still here. Some events for the weekend include:

NORTH⬆️: The only way to experience Oktoberfest is in the mountains of Vernon. The festival is happening at mountain creek resort and costs $25 to enter. No better way to start the fall.

CENTRAL🔄: Sea Hear Now is back, the 2-day long festival is happening in Asbury park this weekend featuring groups such as the Foo Fighters and The Killers. Tickets may be sold out but there are sure to be secondary sites selling if you have not got your hands on any yet.

SOUTH⬇️: Vernon isn’t the only town getting ready for Oktober. Wildwoods “Bier on the Pier” festival is happening all weekend long on the boardwalk. Free to enter, plus discounts on food and rides could be found online.
