Dave Portnoy Battles NJ.com

As of Yesterday, President Biden announce another $325 million in aid to be sent to Ukraine in their war against Russia. The package will include missiles and machine guns that show us there is no immediate desire to end this war.

NEW JERSEY IS AS HAPPY AS EVER (mostly)

While Monmouth university is known for their beautiful campus and close proximity to the beach, there is another trait of the school that has become a sort of New Jersey legend

The Monmouth Poll

I don’t know how it happened, but Monmouth statisticians have consistently produces the best studies and graphs for decades, and on the 20th of September, they released their research on:

New Jersey Quality of Life

In this data set, Monmouth breaks down how New Jerseyans are enjoying their time here.

Overall, the poll has reported that over 60% of New Jersey residents continue to have positive views of their state as a place to live.

However, there has been a decline in perceptions of certain local aspects of the state's quality of life, particularly related to schools and safety.

More specifically, SINCE 2013 (10 year difference):

  • 5% more people believe the quality of their environment is excellent/good

  • Over 100% increase in people who believe their school district is poor (from 7% to 15%)

  • 2% decrease in people who feel very safe at night

  • No change in the percentage of people who rate their town/city excellent (70%)

The Big Change

Maybe unsurprising, the only large statistical change being that towards schools, comes as conservatives have become more vocal about the teaching of LGTBQ material in schools.

This decrease in support led to the percentage of people supporting schools to drop below 60% a number that has rarely happened over the past three decades.

Other than this, New Jersey’s steady support and growth has made it a wonderful place to live, and invest.

It’ll always be hard to find another place to live, because the stats show things are good, and because theres no place like Jersey.

DAVE PORTNOY v. NJ.COM

In this news on New Jersey journalism, NJ.com writer Jeremey Schneider dropped a hit piece on Barstool’s Dave Portnoy.

The attack came on Tuesday, just 4 days in advance of Portnoy’s “One Bite Pizza Fest” that is happening this Saturday in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Good morning! I wrote about Dave Portnoy, and why New Jersey pizzerias shouldn’t associate with him.”

Thats the twitter caption that got this whole thing started.

The contents of the article, sadly, are hidden behind a pay wall, forcing readers to pay to subscribe if they want to know how bad Portnoy really is.

We were blessed with a screenshot of a teaser from the article, where Schneider references an inappropriate, yet comedic, blog post Portnoy made in 2010 about women deserving to be raped, clips of him saying the n-word, and more that had gotten cut off.

The whole exchange blew up on twitter, where loyal fans stormed the comments of Schneider and shamed him for the article.

Barstool even managed to find Schneiders number, and call him on a live stream podcast to discuss the article, to which, he gracefully denied.

Simmering Down

Portnoy himself posted a video in regards to The Washington Post attempting to shame advertisers at the pizzafest from working at him, showing that this article as not the only hit piece to come out within the week of the event.

Yet no matter the effort, the pizzafest will continue in Brooklyn this Saturday, and NJ pizzerias will be in attendance (for now).
